The criminal defense lawyer that I hired to defend me cost a lot of money. I was arrested with my boyfriend and the charges were quite serious. We were given the name of a criminal defense lawyer and we hired him. His fee was ten thousand dollars.

There is one criminal defense lawyer in particular that sticks out in my mind when I think back about that time period. There was a woman in a suit that looked crocheted waiting for clients in the courtroom. I read later that a court appointed criminal defense lawyer makes less than five hundred dollars per case.
Ultimately, our criminal defense lawyer got us an extremely good deal. We were able to dispose of the case with thirty days in jail and four years of probation. The case was concluded with deferred adjudication and so when we successfully completed probation, we had no conviction on our criminal record.
